Charlotte Crosby has spoken out after an image of her children in a “time out cage” sparked outrage. The Geordie Shore star, 36, is engaged to Jake Ankers, also 36, and has Alba-Jean, three, as well as 20-month-old Pixi with him.
Over the weekend, the star posted an image of her two children in a toy tidy storage box and she captioned the post: “Bought a cage for the girls when they need to go in time out.”
But the former Celebrity Big Brother winner was quickly inundated with messages from her followers who had become concerned about her children.
Explaining that it was all a joke, she wrote on Instagram: “Guys my DMs. That is obv not a child cage and we obvs don’t even do time outs! It is however a cage lmao but for teddys! How bl**dy cute.
“I was totally influenced and I can’t even remember now by who! But it’s so cute and me and the girls built it all ourselfs it was so easy I’ll link.” [sic]. Alongside the statement, Charlotte posted a picture of her eldest, happy and smiling as she posed with her teddy bears that had been tidied away.”
It comes shortly after Charlotte told her fans that she is trying to make sure that the coming years are about travelling, getting married and expanding her family.
She wrote: “How do I explain that my 5 year plan is basically to…Have another baby to love. Marry my best friend and soulmate. Make a purposeful change in something I’m passionate about.
“Travel as much as I can with my family. Get fitter and stronger than ever before. Do 2 more BIG TV shows. And soak up every single second of this season in my life before it slips away
Earlier this year, Charlotte appeared on This Morning where she told Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard about her wedding plans She said: “I have lots of dreams and goals…For me personally my dream is to have more kids and get married.
“I cannot wait to marry this gorgeous man. The love of my life! Nothing’s on hold! What’s happened has made us realise we need to get moving!
“This year we plan to go see our dream venue! And hopefully secure the date! I’m just very excited about marrying him. He really is the best man in the world. I love him with all my heart.”
Charlotte added: “We’ve got a date in our mind! But we need to make sure the venue is free for that date or we may be totally screwed!”
