Rameswaram:A humane beggar, Phoolpandi, saved the money he received from begging every day and presented Rs. 10,000 to the Ramanathapuram Collector as donation towards the Chief Minister’s General Relief Fund.
Phoolpandi hails from Thoothukudi district. Through begging, he has been helping the government and government schools since 2010.
He has been donating the money he receives from begging to the government’s relief fund from time to time.
During the public grievance redressal day meeting held at the Ramanathapuram collectorate Monday, Phoolpandi met Collector Sivaguru Prabhakaran and donated the Rs. 10,000 towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
He says he feels very happy to donate to good causes the money he receives from begging. “I have no problem with this. I prefer to donate the money I receive from begging to government schools. So far, I have donated about Rs. 1.60 crore,” said Phoolpandi.
