Welcome to Tuesday, Bulldog fans! We’ve entered that limbo period where certain fanbases are still basking in the glow of Saturdays victory, and others are still steaming from a frustrating loss that exposed expectations like telephone poles in winter when the kudzu dies off.
Clemson has had as many lightning delays as rushing touchdowns this season (that’s “3” if you’re tracking it). If Dabo Swinney is looking for divine intervention, he doesn’t have to look very far for signs of what he should do. Unfortunately, the “storming” back and getting a win after last Saturday’s delay might cause the Clemson coach to misconstrue what everyone else plainly sees.

NC State is back doing NC State s***, uh, “stuff” (you only have to read the comments to get the gist). The bad news is that Saturday’s game-ending debacle in Nashville only pumps up the Commodore pluckiness so we’ll have to hear more about them instead of swatting them away like so many mayflies. The good news is that it only helps Georgia’s resume’, since we face Vandy after a 2 year hiatus of the matchup.
Before we turn our attention to a suddenly vulnerable Oklahoma, let’s break down the Arkansas game one more time. The Red & Black graded each position group (It’s Baaaaack!!!) on their performance in Fayetteville, and the grades look pretty fair to me. Then again, if you’re up 38-3 in a road SEC game in the 4th quarter, how can you not pass out good grades?
This week the Bulldogs will welcome the Oklahoma Sooners to Athens for the first time ever. With such a storied matchup against brands, and two CFP participants returning their starting QB, you’d think the stadium would sell out. Of course it did. Yet the secondary market has softened a little for tickets… I wonder why? Maybe this is the reason:
Yikes. It doesn’t appear the Sooner fanbase is satisfied with the early results, especially compared to expectations. Well, I’m sure I can still conjure up a thing or 3 to worry about, but that’s for another day.

Head football coach Kirby Smart held his weekly press conference Monday afternoon. You might be surprised to learn he is impressed with Oklahoma’s defensive intensity, technique, and fundamentals. And that John Mateer is dangerous with his legs, and that SEC conference games are tough. When asked about water, Coach Smart responded postively that it is wet.
On the injury front, Nate Frazier is day to day, but looks promising to be available Saturday. Tyriq Green, Chase Linton, and Isaiah Canion were all categorized as to “be back soon”. And word is that center Drew Bobo will have the elephant q-tip removed from his left hand.
There is a call to “Stripe Sanford” this Saturday. As someone who doesn’t make many games in person, I’m asking if this is a real thing? And do we like it?
Next week’s Georgia/Vandy tilt is now scheduled for 12:00 pm. Or 12:45 pm. Who knows? And nobody knows which network will carry it. It might be SEC Network. Or ESPN. Or ABC again. I’m sure the Mousey executives love having this flexibility, I’m not sure the fanbases do.
