The Cleveland Browns have long relied on their running game throughout their history as a franchise. Going back to Jim Brown, then to Earnest Byner, and Nick Chubb, they have always been able to have a strong running game. Which is why when the team drafted Quinshon Judkins, folks expected the run game to seemingly keep rolling on despite them moving on from Chubb.
Fast forward to the week leading up to the team’s third game in 2026, and the rushing attack is struggling mightily.

Through two games, the Browns’ leading rusher is Deshaun Watson with 60 yards, and Judkins behind him with 54 yards. As a team, they are getting just 2.9 yards per carry in 2026, but Judkins isn’t worried yet.
While speaking to the media, the former Buckeye gave a calm response to the question about the run game, saying, “I think it’s just all of our first time being together…Just getting on the same page and just correcting the issues this far…I don’t get discouraged by it.”
Judkins started the 2025 season averaging 4 yards per carry in the team’s first eight games. In his final six games, he averaged just 2.95 yards per carry and is now averaging just 2.3.
Yes, the offensive line is new together, but Judkins has been in decline since the middle of last season. Something has to give and soon for this team or else teams will realize they are one dimensional and be making Watson’s job harder than it already is.
