VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Harish Kumar Gupta on Tuesday launched an AI-based Centralised Drone Monitoring Portal (CDMP) and unveiled the logo of the SafeStay app as part of technology-driven policing initiatives.
At a programme at the Guntur SP office, Gupta inaugurated the CDMP and launched the SafeStay app, aimed at strengthening public safety and police services.
Gupta said the initiatives were intended to instil confidence among citizens and provide a sense of safety through technology. “Our goal is not just to introduce new systems but to ensure their benefits reach people directly. Technology must be effectively utilised in crime prevention, investigation and detection,” he said.
The SafeStay application will provide police with real-time information on guests staying in hotels and paying guest accommodations across the state. Occupancy details will be available to police instantly to aid public safety, crime prevention and investigation.
Hotel industry representatives welcomed the initiative and said digital connectivity between guests, hotels and police would help improve safety and emergency response.
The CDMP will enable police to monitor live feeds from drones deployed across Andhra Pradesh through a single dashboard. The system uses AI-based monitoring and advanced analytics and provides secure surveillance without relying on public streaming platforms. Role-based access controls have also been incorporated to enable officers to respond to situations on the ground.
Gupta said police must adapt to changing circumstances by embracing technology. He said technology would play a role in women’s safety, drug control, traffic management, crime investigation and preventive policing. Integrating technology with field-level operations would improve response speed and efficiency, he added.
The DGP appreciated the contribution of educational institutions and young technologists in developing policing solutions. He said the police department considered the innovators part of its team and urged them to develop more applications for future requirements.
“Our ultimate aim is to simplify police duties, deliver faster services to citizens and strengthen their sense of safety and trust,” Gupta said.
Guntur district SP Vakul Jindal, senior police officials, hotel industry representatives, technical experts and academicians attended the programme.
