Warangal: Ceiling plaster fell at two more places at Warangal MGM Hospital on Tuesday, a day after senior officials inspected the old buildings following a similar incident in the Aarogyasri ward on Sunday in which several people were injured.
The latest incidents occurred in the RICU and physiotherapy departments.
No one was present at the spots when the plaster fell.
On Sunday, a portion of the ceiling in the Aarogyasri ward collapsed, injuring patients, attendants and sanitation workers.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy took note of the incident, reviewed the situation with officials and directed them to focus on the safety of the old MGM buildings and expedite work on the new super speciality hospital.
Following the Chief Minister’s directions, DME Dr N. Vani, health secretary Dr Christina Z. Chongthu, Warangal district collector Dr Satya Sarada and other senior officials visited MGM Hospital on Monday and inspected the old buildings.
The officials sought details from engineering officials about the condition of the structures and directed them to take necessary safety measures.
They were also asked to examine the possibility of shifting departments operating from the old buildings wherever necessary.
The fresh incidents within 24 hours of the inspection have raised concern among patients undergoing treatment and their relatives in the old buildings.
Meanwhile, the government has decided to expedite the process of shifting MGM Hospital operations to the new super speciality hospital building.
A comprehensive assessment of the old MGM buildings by engineering experts has also been sought.
