Director General of Police C.V. Anand on Tuesday congratulated EAGLE Force director Sandeep Shandilya and staff after Telangana Police received a national‑level award for anti‑narcotics performance.
Shandilya received the award from Union home minister Amit Shah at the third National Conference of Anti‑Narcotics Task Force Heads in New Delhi. Telangana’s Narcotics Bureau and Eagle Force secured over 80% marks on seven parameters prescribed by the Union Government for assessing ANTFs.
Anand said protecting future generations from drugs remained a key objective and stressed sustained efforts to prevent narcotics spread among youth. Telangana Police ranked first nationally in cybercrime and anti‑narcotics performance.
He said the department is focusing on improving rankings in other areas such as ICJS and CCTNS implementation. The DGP appreciated coordinated efforts of Eagle Force, district police units and other departments.
Shandilya said Telangana scored over 80% in prosecution support, with mechanisms covering legal scrutiny, judicial analysis, witness protection and prosecution support. He added that Anand regularly reviews Eagle Force functioning and directs district SPs to prioritise narcotics cases.
