Adilabad: Members of the committee constituted to probe the fire at RIMS, Adilabad, have inspected the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) on Thursday, collected evidence and seized CCTV footage and electronic gadgets as part of its inquiry.
Telangana State Commission for Protection of Child Rights members Premalatha Agarwal and Marripelli Chandana also inspected the hospital and the ward where the fire occurred.
The inquiry committee is headed by ITDA Utnoor project officer Manda Makarandu. Its members include DMHO (Agency Area) Dr Kudimetha Manohar, electricity superintending engineer Subhash, TGMIDC executive engineer Ramkumar, district fire officer Bhagvan Reddy and electrical inspector Madhu.
The panel inspected the ward and conducted electrical, fire safety and structural audits. It will also question staff who were on duty at the time of the incident and other officials concerned.
The committee will examine CCTV footage from the ward and its premises to establish the sequence of events around midnight and the circumstances leading to the fire. It is expected to submit its final report within 10 days.
Committee members denied Khanapur MLA Vedma Bojju, DCC president Naresh Jadhav and senior Congress leader Ade Gajender entry into the ward, saying their presence could disturb evidence at the site.
