Bhupalpally:BRS MLA Palla Rajeshwar Reddy and former ministers Errabelli Dayakar Rao and Satyavathi Rathod alleged that inadequate coal supplies to thermal power plants were affecting power generation in Telangana.
The BRS leaders visited the Kakatiya Thermal Power Project (KTPP) at Bhupalpally on Thursday as part of the party’s agitation over the power situation. Police initially stopped the delegation from entering the plant, following which the leaders staged a protest at the main gate. They were later allowed inside on their own recognisance.
Speaking during the protest, the leaders alleged that KTPP, Yadadri and Bhadradri power stations were being affected by inadequate coal supplies. They demanded that dues to Genco be cleared and coal supplies to the plants restored.
The leaders recalled that the previous BRS government had provided 24-hour power supply to farmers and alleged that the present situation was affecting the power and irrigation sectors.
They also criticised the government over the utilisation of Godavari waters and demanded uninterrupted electricity and irrigation facilities for farmers.
