Mahendra Hills Basketball Club defeated State Bank of India, Amravati 82-36 in the GM Sampath Kumar Annual League Basketball Championship being held at YMCA Secunderabad. Mahendra Hills displayed a flawless game in the first quarter, scoring on fast breaks through Tagore and Tanay. With the defence set, Daniel scored a massive 22 points from outside the arc, while tight defence restricted SBI to just six points as Mahendra Hills took the first quarter 22-6. In the second quarter, SBI showed grit and determination to score 12 points through Bijoy and Pandu. However, Tanay scored three consecutive baskets as Mahendra Hills bounced back to lead 39-18 at half-time.
After the change of ends, SBI tried hard to make a comeback, scoring nine points each in the third and fourth quarters but Mahendra Hills replied with 22 and 21 points respectively to complete a comfortable victory.
