FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. — After a year in which everything seemed to happen for him all at once, Alex Freeman took what counted as a break of sorts in Fort Lauderdale.
This did, however, follow the World Cup, in which Freeman had started every game for the US men’s national team, scored a goal and became an instant celebrity. So while he got to have a normal few weeks, normal looks different now.
Freeman grew up alongside his famous father, Packers receiver Antonio Freeman, who would get stopped for photos whenever he returned to his old stomping grounds in Green Bay. Still, it’s not quite the same as getting stopped yourself.
“When I went away to Spain, it was different cause everyone plays football there. Obviously football is big, but there’s so many big players as well,” Freeman told The Post. “After the World Cup, it was a different kind of recognition.”
