According to reports, Travis Kelce will not be attending the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards. The award ceremony will be held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 27, 2026. However, the 36-year-old NFL star will not be there to support his wife, as his team, the Kansas City Chiefs, is all set to go up against the Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
The pop icon will receive a brand-new award at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) called the Artist Director Honors. This award recognizes music artists who also contribute behind the camera and help make music videos more creative and visually impressive. As per reports, Taylor received nine nominations at this year’s awards.
A source told Page Six that Taylor really wanted to collaborate with MTV to celebrate the release of Patient Zero. Earlier, in 2025, both Taylor and Travis missed the MTV VMA ceremony. It is worth mentioning that this is not the first time that Travis has skipped the MTV VMAs. Earlier, in 2024, Travis was not seen alongside Taylor at the 2024 MTV VMAs. He was unable to attend the ceremony due to his football commitments.
At the time, an insider confirmed to Page Six that Kelce’s job made it difficult for him to attend the ceremony. Although the Kansas City Chiefs tight end was not there with Taylor, he made sure to show support for her publicly. Taylor had won seven awards at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards. During an episode of his New Heights podcast, Travis said:
“Hopefully Taylor can walk away with a few; she’s nominated for about 10 of those things tonight. Hopefully she can walk away with some Moon Men. Those are always one of the cooler trophies. The space guys.”
