Several grassroots-level leaders, including ZPTCs and MPTCs from 13 villages in Nellimarla and Cheepuripalli mandals, resigned from the YSRC following the suspension and dismissal of Baddukonda Appala Naidu from the party.
The YSRC high command suspended and later dismissed Appala Naidu, who was the party coordinator and in-charge of the Nellimarla Assembly constituency, alleging anti-party activities.
The action followed the resignation of Majji Srinivasa Rao, nephew of MLC and former minister Botsa Satyanarayana, from the party last month.
“The party president, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, suspended me just because I am brother-n-law of Majji Srinivasa Rao, who quit the party and joined Telugu Desam. Will he suspend Botsa Satyanarayana who is uncle of Majji Srinivasa Rao?, asked Appala Naidu.
Five former ZPTCs had resigned a fortnight ago, while some sarpanches resigned on Saturday.
