Chief Justice of India Surya Kant has declined a request to meet Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge and other opposition leaders on Monday, October 12.
The opposition leaders had sought a meeting to raise concerns over alleged electoral irregularities, the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and police action against protesters in Delhi.
The request came as demonstrations against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the Election Commission of India continued in the national capital, with protesters demanding accountability over alleged irregularities in the electoral process.
