KURNOOL: Kurnool district superintendent of police Vikrant Patil has urged people to remain vigilant against cyber fraud involving fake e-challan APK files and fraudulent festival offers during the Dasara holidays.
In a statement on Sunday, he warned people against clicking on suspicious WhatsApp messages and SMS links claiming that traffic e-challans were pending. He clarified that the police department would never send APK files in the name of e-challans.
The SP also cautioned against fake social media advertisements offering attractive discounts under the banner of “Dasara Big Sale”. He advised people not to click on suspicious links or share personal information, banking details or one-time passwords (OTPs).
