Mysskin’s upcoming directorial venture Train, featuring Vijay Sethupathi and Shruti Haasan in the lead roles, is set to arrive in theatres on December 4. The announcement brings a confirmed release date to a project that has been in the works for nearly three years, with the film drawing attention for its ensemble cast and the filmmaker’s return to direction.
Produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu under his V Creations banner, Train was first announced in November 2023, with filming commencing the following month. The film was initially rumoured to be targeting a 2025 release, although the makers had not officially confirmed those reports. With the theatrical date now locked, the film is gearing up for a December release.
Train also marks a new creative milestone for Mysskin. Besides writing and directing the film, he will make his debut as a music composer. Known for his distinctive visual style and unconventional storytelling, the filmmaker is taking on an additional responsibility in a project that reunites him with a large ensemble of actors from Tamil cinema.
Vijay Sethupathi And Shruti Haasan Lead An Ensemble Cast
While Vijay Sethupathi and Shruti Haasan headline Train, the film features a substantial supporting cast. The lineup includes Nasser, Yugi Sethu, Narain, KS Ravikumar, Sampath Raj, Kalaiyarasan, Ira Dayanand, Ajay Ratnam, Vincent Ashokan, Babloo Prithiveeraj, Thrigun Arun, Ganesh Venkatraman, Preethy Karan, Singampuli and Suresh Chandra Menon.
The film also features Shaji, Selvaah Chandrasekhar, GR Aathithyaa, Rohan, Kaniha, Janany, Diya Sharma and Komagan. While the makers have yet to reveal extensive details about the plot, the breadth of the cast suggests that the film will bring together several familiar faces from the Tamil film industry.
Mysskin has built a reputation for exploring morally complicated characters, crime and human behaviour through an individualistic filmmaking approach. Vijay Sethupathi, meanwhile, has consistently moved between commercial entertainers and more unconventional projects. Their collaboration, alongside Shruti Haasan, is one of the key aspects generating interest in Train.
On the technical front, Fowzia Fathima has handled cinematography, while Sri Watson serves as the editor. Mohana Mahendran is the art director, and Ramkumar has been entrusted with stunt choreography. The technical team will play a crucial role in shaping the film’s visual atmosphere and action sequences.
Mysskin And Vijay Sethupathi Have Other Projects In The Pipeline
Train is among several upcoming projects on Vijay Sethupathi’s slate. The actor is also set to feature in Pocket Novel, directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja, Inji Vellam, helmed by Mani Ratnam, and Slum Dog: 33 Temple Road, directed by Puri Jagannadh. The projects bring him together with filmmakers known for their distinctive approaches to storytelling.
Meanwhile, Mysskin will return to the screen as an actor in Sathyavan Savithiri, alongside Keerthy Suresh. The film is scheduled to release theatrically on November 20, ahead of Train’s arrival in December.
With its release date now confirmed, Train marks another collaboration between Mysskin and a cast led by Vijay Sethupathi and Shruti Haasan. The filmmaker’s additional role as composer offers another point of interest as the makers prepare to begin the next phase of the film’s promotional campaign.
