Acclaimed Malayalam actor Mohanlal has expressed his appreciation for Drishyam: The Conclusion, headlined by Ajay Devgn, congratulating director Abhishek Pathak and the entire team on the film’s successful theatrical run. Having led the original Malayalam Drishyam films, the actor’s words of praise carry particular significance for a franchise that has found audiences across languages.
Released on October 2, the Hindi thriller marks the concluding chapter of the Drishyam franchise, with the film now on course to cross Rs 500 crore at the global box office. The production banner shared a video of Mohanlal on its official Instagram handle on Monday, in which the actor spoke about his experience of watching the film and applauded the way the story had been brought to a close.
“I have watched the film, and I am impressed by the way they have brought this much-loved journey to an end. Congratulations to Abhishek Pathak, Ajay Devgn and the entire cast and crew… So well done,” he said in the video.
The makers acknowledged the actor’s message with a caption that read, “Thank you so much for your kind appreciation, Mohanlal Sir#Lalettan @mohanlal BOOK YOUR TICKETS NOW: Link in bio. # DrishyamTheConclusion in cinemas NOW. #DrishyamDay #2ndOct,” encouraging audiences to watch the film in theatres.
Ajay Devgn Returns As Vijay Salgaonkar
In Drishyam: The Conclusion, Ajay Devgn reprises his role as Vijay Salgaonkar, the ordinary cable operator whose extraordinary efforts to protect his family have become the defining feature of the franchise. The new film revisits his uneasy relationship with the law, bringing the character back into another tense battle of wits as the consequences of his past actions continue to unfold.
The film also sees the return of Tabu, Shriya Saran, Rajat Kapoor, Ishita Dutta and Mrunal Jadhav, who reprise their respective roles. Jaideep Ahlawat joins the franchise as Rajveer Singh Tomar, a crime branch officer determined to pursue the case, adding another formidable presence to the film’s central conflict.
Directed by Abhishek Pathak, the latest instalment seeks to bring the long-running cat-and-mouse game between Vijay and the authorities to a definitive conclusion. The franchise’s appeal has largely rested on its ability to turn an apparently straightforward crime investigation into a layered story about family, loyalty, deception and the limits of the law.
From Malayalam Original To Pan-India Franchise
The Drishyam phenomenon began with the Malayalam film directed by the late Nishikant Kamat in 2015, an adaptation of Jeethu Joseph’s original film starring Mohanlal. Centred on Vijay Salgaonkar’s attempts to shield his family after his daughter becomes entangled in a crime, the story gained recognition for its carefully constructed narrative and unexpected turns.
The Hindi version continued with Drishyam 2 in 2022, which became one of the year’s highest-grossing Hindi films. The latest chapter builds on that success while bringing the story closer to its intended finish.
Drishyam: The Conclusion is produced by Panorama Studios and presented by Star Studio18. The screenplay has been written by Abhishek Pathak, Aamil Keeyan Khan and Parveez Shaikh.
With Mohanlal now publicly endorsing the Hindi film, the latest instalment has received a notable acknowledgment from the star who helped establish the franchise’s legacy in Malayalam cinema.
