With Ramayana Part 1 gearing up for its theatrical release on November 5, the makers recently held a grand premiere in Los Angeles. The event saw several members of the film’s cast and crew in attendance, including Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Sai Pallavi, producer Namit Malhotra, director Nitesh Tiwari and filmmaker Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari. Videos and glimpses from the premiere have since surfaced online, creating a buzz among fans.
Amid the excitement surrounding the film, director Nitesh Tiwari addressed questions about the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the much-awaited mythological drama. Speaking to the media at the premiere, the filmmaker explained that the technology had been used for a specific technical purpose rather than to alter the actors’ performances or recreate their voices.

Clarifying the extent of AI’s involvement, Nitesh said, “As far as AI is concerned, it has only been used to get the lip-sync right so that we can present the film to audiences in their own language. All the voices are dubbed by the artistes. There is no other use of AI. It is only being used to ensure accurate lip movements so that audiences can enjoy the film in their native language.”
His statement comes at a time when the growing use of AI in cinema has sparked conversations about its impact on acting, dubbing and visual effects. By explaining its limited application in Ramayana, the director made it clear that the technology was used solely to synchronise lip movements with dialogue across different languages.
Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana is being developed as a two-part cinematic saga. The first instalment, Ramayana: Rise of a Legend, is set to hit theatres worldwide on November 5. Meanwhile, reports suggest that the second instalment may face a delay, potentially pushing its release from Diwali 2027 to 2028.
