Onlookers were confused to see a massive crowd of people in Regent Street queuing for something, but passers-by couldn’t figure out what they were waiting for until they spotted the shop

Regent Street in London is often a busy hub of activity thanks to its upmarket shops and boutiques, as well as the sheer number of visitors. But when visitors spotted a big crowd of people queuing along the road, some were confused about what exactly was happening – and what could be so exciting it would cause dozens of people to line up in the pouring rain.

The queue seemed to mainly consist of younger women, all hoping that time would pass quickly so they could be under cover as soon as possible and face-to-face with something amazing. The person who uploaded footage of Regent Street described it as “so busy” before eventually cottoning on to the real reason – something exciting was unfolding inside one of the high street’s popular clothing stores.

TikToker @caround3world captioned their clip of the queue: “Omg Regent Street is so busy because of the Freya Skye Hollister pop-up”. In the comments, someone wrote: “Our girl is so loved.”

Who exactly is Freya Skye?

Freya Skye is a 17-year-old British singer, songwriter, and actress from Buckinghamshire. She first shot to prominence when she flew the flag for the UK at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2022 with her track Lose My Head.

Since then, she has forged an impressive career with Disney, securing a talent deal with the global entertainment giant’s Branded Television division and landing the role of Nova Bright in Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires.

She has also been pursuing her solo pop career, dropping her debut EP Stardust, which features tracks such as ‘petty’ and ‘why’d you have to call’. Freya also commands an impressive 2.4 million followers on TikTok, frequently uploading clips of herself taking part in lip sync trend videos and even giving fans a sneak peek at new music ahead of its official release.

What is her Hollister pop-up and how did it come about?

Freya teamed up with Hollister Co. as the headline face and collaborator for their worldwide denim and back-to-school campaigns, most notably the ‘Made for this Moment’ campaign.

The collaboration features her very own curated line and merchandise, with ‘Freya Skye’s favs’ showcased on the brand’s website, highlighting pieces such as fun layering items, baggy jeans, and official co-branded Freya Skye graphic tees and hoodies.

Every item within the collection carries a small tag on the website so fans can rest assured it has her personal seal of approval. Hollister also organised interactive pop-up events at selected flagship stores, including London’s Regent Street, to showcase the clothing range.

Fans were forming lengthy queues last week as Freya herself was present, greeting people and delivering acoustic performances of her songs.

The pop-up proves a natural fit as Hollister predominantly attracts a teenage and Gen-Z audience, and the brand regularly joins forces with emerging talent, generating exactly the kind of buzz witnessed on Regent Street.
