The news comes 11 years after ballet star Wayne, 78, was diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Wayne Sleep, the legendary ballet dancer and former I’m A Celeb star, has revealed he has been battling cancer.

The entertainer, 78, one of Britain’s most celebrated dancers and choreographers, told his social media followers in a post today that he has been undergoing treatment.

He wrote: “A few people have commented that I haven’t been looking quite my usual self recently, so I thought I would share an update. Since the summer, I have been undergoing treatment for cancer.

ā€œI’m pleased to say that the treatment appears to be working, and I am on the mend thanks to all at the Royal Marsden and am looking forward to getting back to full strength.

ā€œI’m in good spirits and feeling positive about the future. Thank you to everyone for their kindness and concern.”

He shared a picture of himself at Kew Gardens, West London, alongside a large bronze sculpture, adding: “Photo here on Friday at Kew Gardens looking at the wonderful Henry Moore exhibition” and signed off: “Much love, Wayne x.”

The news comes more than a decade after Sleep, who has also starred in Celebrity Big Brother and Celebrity Masterchef, had a prostate cancer scare.

He told the Mirror in 2016: “For my job I have to have a regular health check and, at 60, it flagged up I had a problem with my prostate.

“A blood test measuring prostate specific antigen (PSA) was higher than normal, so they did an MRI and biopsy. They have to put a camera and a device up your bottom to snip off tissue – it was like an electric shock.

“But everything came back fine and my PSA levels dropped to normal.”

In 2017 Sleep appeared in ITV’s The Real Full Monty, where celebs do a choreographed strip dance for charity, to raise awareness for prostate and testicular cancer.

He appeared in the second series of I’m A Celeb where he finished fourth, behind cricketer Phil Tufnell, who won, ex-footballer John Fashanu and TV host Linda Barker.

Sleep has also appeared in the BBC reveal documentary The Real Marigold Tour and was a judge on ITV’s Stepping Out, a Strictly-like show fronted by Davina McCall where celebrities learnt to dance with their real-life partners.
