The Loose Women panellist has addressed her future in the showbiz industry
Loose Women’s Gloria Hunniford has revealed her next steps after celebrating 80 years in showbusiness.
The Irish presenter, 86, was all smiles as she marked eight decades in the industry during Monday’s (November 2) episode of Loose Women.
Fellow panellists Coleen Nolan, Ruth Langsford and Jane Moore joined together in celebrating Gloria’s evolution from a child performer to one of the nation’s most celebrated broadcasters.
As Ruth introduced a special segment for the ITV panellist, Gloria admitted that the milestone is “incredible,” before jokingly adding: “You’re probably saying ‘Why doesn’t she retire?'”
She later revealed her plans for the future and it doesn’t sound like she’ll be retiring anytime soon. “You have to be practical when you get to the 80s,” Gloria started.
She continued: “Because, heaven forbid, but I’ve been lucky not to have anything seriously wrong. But if you have an illness or something then, of course, that helps you make a decision. But at the minute, hey, you’re stuck with me!”
Earlier in the show, Gloria reflected on how she stumbled into an inspiring career after moving to London as a mother-of-three. She admitted she didn’t ever see herself as a “trailblazer” as many would describe her now.
“I didn’t think of it like that,” Gloria said. “Because I was a housewife with three children by that stage and I always thought of myself as a mum first and foremost. But here I am with this challenge and I was excited about doing it, but I was too busy learning how to do it.”

Gloria would go on to bag a job on an ITV chat show called Sunday, Sunday during her first year in London. The programme gave her the chance to sit down with a string of Hollywood legends, including Audrey Hepburn and Bette Davis.
The presenter is still baffled by how many A-listers made it onto the show. She confessed: “I tell you the truth, to this day, I have no idea how they got them. All Hollywood names!”
