'Ramyana' First Review, Ranbir Kapoor's Epic Saga Is 'Breathtaking', Ravi Dubey Gets Special Praise

With less than 24 hours left until the film’s release, the audience is extremely excited about Ramayana: Part 1‘s release. The film is scheduled for a worldwide release on November 5, 2026, with the next part slated for Diwali 2027. The film is not just a massive investment project, but also a tale that holds sentimental value for millions. So, as everyone waits for the release, here’s what the first review suggests.

Ramayana: Part 1, Ranbir Kapoor’s epic saga’s first review is out!

Nitesh Tiwari had everyone on the edge of their seats, waiting for the release of Ramayana: Part 1. While the online speculations had initially been mixed, the first reaction following the Mumbai screening has been overwhelmingly positive. Now, content creator Ashish Chanchlani has shared the first detailed review of the epic saga, calling it a potential historic blockbuster.

Ashish Chanchlani, who attended the screening, praised the film for its breathtaking visuals, spectacular action sequences and strong performances. The content creator took to his X handle and called Ramayana: Part 1 a film of “truly epic proportions”. Ashish shared that he was impressed by the film’s action sequences and commended Nitesh Tiwari for helming it with such dedication. He wrote:

“Ramayana is a blockbuster of truly epic proportions, delivering some of the absolute best action set pieces Indian cinema has ever seen. But beyond the breathtaking visual spectacle, the film’s biggest strength is Nitesh Tiwari’s astute direction. This is entirely his ship, and he sails it with supreme control.”

The content creator praised the lead cast for their respective roles, giving a special shoutout to Ravi Dubey for his portrayal as ‘Lakshman’ in Ramayana: Part 1. He shared that the actor nailed the role of the devoted brother. Meanwhile, he also praised Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi for bringing their best on-screen.

Ramayana: Part 1 has some minor shortcomings

While the film won over many with its Mumbai screening, it is not completely flawless. Ashish Chanchlani acknowledged a few minor technical shortcomings, including some de-ageing shots in the night sequences that felt slightly off. However, he asserted that the film’s editing is so tight that these moments didn’t become distracting. He wrote:

“While there are minor technical hiccups along the way (a few de-ageing shots in night sequences feel slightly off), the film is edited so tightly that you barely notice. Every single risk taken by DNEG and Namit Malhotra has paid off magnificently, with each action sequence outdoing the last. Nothing is going to stop this film from becoming a historic blockbuster.”

Ashish concluded by saying that the film will surely be a blockbuster and urged everyone to watch it in theatres. On the box-office front, a day before its worldwide release this Thursday on November 5, 2026, Ramayana: Part 1 has amassed Rs. 96.75 crore in advance bookings. Excluding block bookings, this figure comes down to Rs. 77.44 crore. According to estimates from Sacnilk, the total number of tickets sold so far is 25.73 lakh across 83,172 shows.

While the number itself is huge, the film is expected to have a slow start, thanks to Diwali on Sunday, November 8, 2026. However, despite the festivities, the film has already recorded the biggest pre-Diwali advance booking collection ever, shattering the “Diwali jinx”. Excitement for Ramayana: Part 1 is not limited to India, as the film has also performed phenomenally in overseas advance bookings.

According to reports, Ramayana: Part 1 has already surpassed the Rs. 100 crore mark in advance bookings for its extended opening weekend worldwide. Overseas, total advance bookings have exceeded Rs. 40 crore so far, bringing global advance bookings to around Rs. 140 crore.
