Things really couldn’t have gone worse for the Baltimore Ravens.
After losing Lamar Jackson on their first play of the game last week, the Ravens learned that their backup, Tyler Huntley, also suffered a major injury that’s season-ending.
ESPN reports that Huntley, who suffered a turf toe injury so severe he did not return in the Bills’ dominant 35-6 win, will miss the rest of the season.
Huntley was injured in the second quarter on Sunday when defensive lineman Ed Oliver tackled him and rolled him up.
Huntley is expected to go on injured reserve, leaving the Ravens in a massive bind at quarterback.
Undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano stepped in for the Ravens as the emergency quarterback, but he did not fare well.
Fagnano, who attended UConn, went 10 for 21 for 91 yards, no touchdowns and an interception.
Fagnano was injured in the game as well and did not practice on Tuesday as the Ravens face a nightmare spot as they face the Jaguars on a short week this Thursday.
The ankle injury was not known during Sunday’s game, but he was seen with a brace and heavy tape on his ankle on Tuesday.
Fagnano is still expected to start Thursday, with Kaden Slovis backing him up, whom the Ravens just signed off the Packers’ practice squad.

Austin Reed, who was not on a roster, was also signed this week and is on the Ravens’ practice squad as the likely emergency quarterback should disaster strike again.
With Jackson expected to be placed on injured reserve with no return date in sight and Huntley out for the season, it is unclear if the Ravens will attempt to trade for a quarterback before next week’s trade deadline.
