TIRUPATI: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has begun preparations for the 10-day Vaikunta Dwara Darshanam at the Sri Venkateswara temple in Tirumala from December 20 to 29.

Additional executive officer Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary and chief vigilance and security officer (CVSO) K.V. Murali Krishna reviewed the arrangements with senior officials at a meeting in Tirumala on Thursday.

Chowdary directed officials to make arrangements for the event, one of the major religious occasions in Tirumala after the Brahmotsavams. He said 7.83 lakh devotees had been provided darshan during the 10-day event last year and asked officials to make similar arrangements this year.

To facilitate darshan for common devotees, TTD will allot slotted Sarva Darshan tokens through an online electronic dip for the first three days. Sarva Darshan will be available for the remaining seven days.

The Additional EO also directed officials to allow Sarva Darshan devotees to have darshan on December 25, even during the Friday Abhishekam. He instructed officials to monitor queue lines continuously through the Integrated Command Control Centre and reduce waiting time.

CVSO Murali Krishna said elaborate security arrangements would be made to manage the expected rush. Special measures would also be taken to prevent parking problems in Tirumala. He said advance arrangements would be made to manage the crowds and ensure security during the last seven days, when a large number of devotees were expected.
