Two major Maoist arms dumps were recovered in Bijapur district under south Bastar in Chhattisgarh in the last 48 hours, by the security forces.
A day after 711 Barrel Grenade Launcher (BGL) shells were recovered in the forest near the village of Padetal in the district, security forces unearthed a Naxal arms dump in a forest in the district late on Friday, yielding around 900 detonators and electronic equipment.
According to Bijapur police, a joint search party comprising personnel of 204th battalion of Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA), an elite unit of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and local district force detected a Maoist arms dump in the jungle of Pujarikanker under Usur police station late on Friday in which a cache of detonators, other explosive materials and electronic equipment were recovered.
The recovered materials included 455 electronic detonators, 500 non-electronic detonators, two multimeters, two radio set battery charge cups, two copper prototyping boards (CPBs), a multi- USB port card reader, a mobile charger, a laptop adapter, a 12V FM/AM retractable power antenna, a telescopic antenna and Naxal literature, the police said.
The Maoists had hidden the arms and ammunition in the former red zones before their surrenders, police said.

After Bastar was declared free of armed Naxal activities on March 31, security forces launched operations to unearth arms and ammunition, hidden by the Maoists in jungles before their surrender.
