The U.S. men’s national team will be missing Gio Reyna when it convenes on Monday outside of Atlanta ahead of its CONCACAF Nations League quarterfinal against Haiti.
Reyna was withdrawn from the USMNT’s roster due to injury on Saturday, just one day after leaving Strasbourg’s loss to Toulouse after 70 minutes when he took a knock to the thigh.
Stoke City midfielder Jack McGlynn was named as Reyna’s replacement.
It’s the second injury replacement the USMNT has had to name in just a few days, having already replaced center back George Campbell with Mark McKenzie.
Reyna’s injury, though, could have a more immediate impact on the USMNT. Though he wasn’t locked in as a starter in midfield on a roster that includes most of the best players in the American pool, he’s been off to his best start to a season in years both for club and country.
Since moving to Strasbourg in France’s Ligue 1, Reyna has been starting every week and performing well; on Friday, he scored his team’s only goal before leaving the eventual 3-1 defeat. Reyna was a standout performer in the September/October USMNT camp as well, starting all four victories and vindicating Mauricio Pochettino’s long-held belief in him.
McGlynn, a native of Middle Village, has 13 USMNT caps with two goals and two assists. He’s played both on the right wing and in central midfield for Stoke in the English Championship and has scored in three consecutive games, including a 2-1 win over Portsmouth on Saturday.

His last action for the national team was over a year ago, when he came off the bench against both Japan and South Korea in a pair of friendlies last September. Before that, McGlynn was part of the 2025 Gold Cup squad that lost to Mexico in the final, mostly coming off the bench.
The USMNT faces Haiti in the first of two legs next Saturday in Miami.
