AJ Allmendinger gained two positions Sunday at Kansas Speedway, finishing 22nd after starting 24th. The Kaulig Racing driver spent the majority of the Hollywood Casino 400 in the second half of the running order.
Allmendinger kept the No. 16 Chevrolet out of the race’s major trouble and completed 266 of 267 laps. The car never developed enough speed to challenge for a top-15 finish, but the veteran avoided the setbacks that eliminated or heavily damaged several competitors.

The 22nd-place result was worth 15 points. Allmendinger is not a Chase participant, so those points contribute to his final season standing rather than the championship battle. The afternoon provided a completed race and a small gain from the starting position, but little else for a Kaulig Racing team that also saw Ty Dillon finish 28th.
