A.J. Minter is evidently not concerned with all the talk about the drop in his velocity since returning from a yearlong absence with a torn lat.
Through his first six outings of his second season with the Mets, Minter’s average fastball velocity has dipped a hair over 2 mph — from 94.4 to 92.5 mph — from what it was through 11 innings of his 2025 campaign.
The left-handed reliever was averaging 96.6 mph with his fastball as recently as 2022.
While the drop has been a topic of discussion, and one that Minter has acknowledged, it is a part of his adjustment period that he’s not allowing himself to be overly concerned with.
