Chennai: Even while leader of Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin echoed AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami’s charges against TVK with ‘buying AIADMK MLAs’, PWD minister Aadhav Arjuna on Monday alleged that both the Dravidian parties had formed a secret alliance in the by-polls. He said the DMK would work for the AIADMK in Dharapuram and receive the AIADMK’s support in Madurantakam in a covert arrangement.
Addressing an election rally in Madurantakam, the minister said the two Dravidian parties had united since they could not win all contracts in Tasmac. He asserted that even if both the Dravidian parties joined together, they cannot defeat the TVK. In an open challenge, Aadhav Arjuna said he is ready to quit his party post if the TVK lost the Madurantakam by-poll and asked if Udhayanidhi is ready to quit his party post if the DMK lost.
He said Udhayanidhi had not worked for the party but he was an MLA immediately and then the deputy Chief Minister. The DMK was preparing to make him the Chief Minister but TVK leader C. Joseph Vijay ended the plans. DMK leader M.K. Stalin was thrown away by people after ruling for one term and the party has become ‘Udhayanidhi DMK’ now.
Aadhav Arjuna accused Udhayanidhi of making obscene speeches everywhere and he would ruin the DMK. The TVK will provide a government without corruption for the next five years and Madurantakam will be the basis for such a government, he added. He said the TVK had broken the culture of receiving votes by paying cash and it would continue to win without paying cash for voters. The TVK candidates had won the Assembly elections cutting across caste and money power with the support of women and youth, Aadhav Arjuna said.
