ANANTAPUR: A new-born baby girl allegedly abandoned in thorn bushes in Anantapur district was rescued in time and shifted to a child care home, where she is now safe under official care.
State commission for protection of child rights member Dr D. Srinivasa Murthy said the newborn was rescued after unidentified persons allegedly abandoned her in thorn bushes in Anantapur district… He said the timely intervention of officials and staff helped save the child and ensure her safety.
Dr Srinivasa Murthy, along with APSCPCR member K.G. Venkata Padmalatha, visited the baby at the Shishu Gruha in Anantapur and reviewed the care being provided to her.
Describing the incident as emotionally distressing, Dr Srinivasa Murthy said the child had faced hardship even before beginning life and expressed hope that she would overcome the tragedy and grow up with strength and dignity.
Moved by the incident, officials named the baby “Jaithra”, symbolising victory and hope for a better future.
Dr Srinivasa Murthy stressed that every child is a gift to society and appealed to people to value and protect girl children.
He said a moment of neglect could push a life into darkness, while timely compassion and care could transform it with hope and dignity.
Officials said the infant is healthy and receiving proper care and protection at the child care institution.
