Abbey Clancy’s remarks came as they responded to a fan query about the ups and downs of long-distance relationships and how she and husband Peter “approach” them

Abbey Clancy has declared that she doesn’t “care” as she opened up about spending time apart from her husband, Peter Crouch. Her comments came to light as she answered a query from a fan about the difficulties of long-distance relationships and how she and Peter “approach” them.

Once she finished reading the message, former footballer Peter immediately started laughing and said, “f*** me” as it was suggested Abbey had previously said long-distance “does not work”.

What ensued was an amusing back and forth in which the couple outlined why it’s not for them. Speaking in a recent instalment of The Therapy Crouch podcast, Abbey joked: “No, it doesn’t (work).

“We’re actually getting divorced. It’s our last pod, guys. So, farewell.” Peter responded: “This is very apt because this… it sounds like you’ve wrote that”.

Abbey hit back, saying: “I haven’t wrote it. I haven’t got as much interest to write that now. I don’t care. So, I wouldn’t write that now”, as Peter declared “f*****g hell”.

He followed up: “So, as you can tell, it’s not really been good for us.” Abbey noted that these types of relationships don’t “work” for her, and the couple continued their playful back and forth.

Peter went on to clarify: “I’ll tell you why it doesn’t work for us. It’s because we love each other and we spend a lot of time together, and we have fun together.

“So, where we are apart – I resonate with this – I resonate with the fact that yeah, the little arguments and that; we can bicker. But with regards to long-distance relationships, I totally get it.”

Abbey claimed that the people who make long-distance relationships work are those who enjoy their own space. She noted that some are “self-sufficient”, but didn’t think depending on others was true of their relationship and claimed she didn’t depend on “anyone”.

Peter teased: “You’ve just said you depend on me. Clearly, you’ve literally just said you literally need me to breathe”, and then erupted into laughter.

Elsewhere, the couple recently received messages of support after sharing a “special” family update. Abbey and Peter – parents to Sophia Ruby, Liberty Rose, Johnny and Jack – have recently been spending time in the US.

Peter worked as a pundit and broadcaster at the World Cup final at the New York New Jersey Stadium. Meanwhile, Abbey posted some photos of herself and her children from inside the stadium.

She said in the caption: “Well that was special. World Cup final [red love hearts] congratulations to Spain.” In response, fans shared their views. One said: “Such a gorgeous family!” Another said: “You’re a good looking bunch.” A third noted: “Beautiful family”.
