In court, Mahrah Al Nahyan’s lawyer, Stephen Vullo KC, defended his client, alleging that the Abu Dhabi royal had stopped using drugs since entering the Priory in July 2026. He alleged that Mahrah showed ‘significant remorse and resolve to overcome her addiction’. He even reflected on what happened that day and stated that while his client was a user, she did not take any drugs on the day of the offence and was simply very tired, having taken cocaine in the previous days.
Stephen Vullo KC added that, for now, Mahrah Al Nahyan is focused on completing all the steps of her programme. She plans to rent a property after completing her treatment at the end of October 2026 and then attend Narcotics Anonymous. He was quoted as saying:
“In the immediate future, she intends to complete all of the steps of a three-month programme, which will come to an end at the end of this month. Her plan after that is to rent a property in the Guildford area and become a day patient there, where she will attend Narcotics Anonymous.”
Judge calls out Mahrah Al Nahyan after she admits to child neglect
Justice Johnson KC sentenced Mahrah Al Nahyan to a two-year community order with a rehabilitation requirement. Judge KC also fined her GBP 5,000 and ordered her to pay GBP 1,000. After the hearing, she has an allowance of USD 8,000 a month. The judge called out Mahrah for leaving an unsupervised minor to play on the street while being under the influence of substances. The judge added:
“On one occasion, they ran towards the road while chasing a piece of paper until a member of the public contained [the child]. But for the intervention of strangers, there was a serious risk they would be seriously injured or worse. They could have run away and become lost. They could have been taken or harmed by a stranger and could have become distressed seeing you and your friend unconscious in the street.”
