Hyderabad: The Charlapalli railway station will implement an access control system at the south terminal building on the Platform No. 9 side from Monday to regulate passenger pick-up and drop-off.
Railway authorities said the system is aimed at preventing unauthorised parking and regulating vehicular entry and exit to improve traffic flow at the station frontage. The measures are expected to facilitate safer pedestrian movement and easier access to autos, taxis, buses and other modes of transport.
The plan includes separate short-term pick-up and drop-off lanes and designated long-term parking areas. Digital ticketing and receipt systems will be used to ensure transparency and levy charges only beyond the free parking period.
Developed as a modern coaching terminal by the South Central Railway, the station is intended to decongest existing terminals in Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Kacheguda and Lingampally, and to serve the eastern corridor of the city.
