Pregnant Laura Woods arrived with her fiancé, Adam Collard, at Newcastle Magistrates’ Court today after the Love Island star’s father was accused of assaulting him
Adam Woods was supported by his pregnant fiancée Laura Woods in court today after the Love Island star’s dad was accused of assaulting his famous son.
William Collard, known as Billy, is accused of assault by beating following an alleged row with former Love Island star Adam, 30, last year over a dispute over a property.
William, 56, who lives on a farm in Horsley, in Northumberland, allegedly grabbed his son, ripped his shirt and left him with reddening to his neck, the court heard. He denies the offence of assault by beating.
Collard Sr. arrived at Newcastle Magistrates’ Court on Friday to go on trial. His son, Adam, 30, who appeared on Love Island in 2018, was also spotted arriving at the court separately, holding hands with his pregnant fiancée, ITV sports presenter Laura Woods, 38, who was dressed all in black and wearing sunglasses.
The trial was delayed for two hours before staff confirmed it could not go ahead due to lack of court time. William will return to the court in Newcastle for his trial on November 27 this year.
The pair had argued over who owned a holiday cottage on William’s farm with the alleged assault taking place when Adam turned up at the property on September 5 last year, the court heard.
Adam and Laura, 38, who were seen leaving the court in a car after the trial was postponed, started dating last year in October 2023, before announcing the birth of their son Leo last year.
Speaking about his romance with Laura, Adam previously said: “The first time we met – I’ll hold my hands up – I did DM her first and got a reply but then nothing ever happened. Then she called us out for basically leaving her on read.
“It’s hard to meet people, isn’t it? I’m from Newcastle and eventually we met up, and then went on a very undercover date, and obviously what comes out in the press, comes out in the press, but it’s not always the full story.”
Speaking to OK! last year, Adam revealed that he and Laura were planning a 2026 wedding – which is delayed from their original plans.
The former Love Island star got down on one knee in September 2024, at the place ‘they first fell in love’, Laura later revealed on Instagram. The couple are now expecting their second child, with Adam revealing how fatherhood had changed him.
He said: “I’ve got a purpose now, whereas for years I felt like I was in limbo.” Describing Leo as “100 miles an hour”, the personal trainer added: “He’s a handful but so funny and everything we’ve ever wanted. Being a dad is great, but it’s challenging, too, I’d never sugar-coat that. But it’s put everything into perspective.”
