Young winger Adam Sykora was forced to leave Monday’s tune-up meeting with the Devils after taking a tough hit midway through the first period.

Sykora went down after being walloped by New Jersey‘s Mikael Diotte in the corner.
He was unable to put any weight on his right leg, and needed assistance from trainers being helped off towards the Rangers locker room.
The Rangers ruled Sykora out at the beginning of the second period.
This is a big blow for the 22-year-old, who was facing an uphill battle for a spot during camp and preseason play.
Sykora came up and provided a nice boost down the stretch last season, recording a goal and three assists over his 11-game cup of coffee at the NHL-level.
He quickly became a favorite for his infectious personality and high energy play.
