Adilabad: Electoral roll mapping in Adilabad district recorded higher coverage in tribal and rural areas compared to urban centres, with the exercise completed on Wednesday ahead of the special intensive revision (SIR) launched on Thursday.
Officials said focus would now shift to unmapped electors and entries with anomalies. Migrant labourers from neighbouring Maharashtra were cited as a possible factor behind the higher number of unmapped and anomalous entries in urban areas.
According to official data, electoral roll mapping stood at 76.49 per cent as of June 24. Coverage was higher in tribal mandals, including Bela (71.28 per cent) and Adilabad Rural (75.95 per cent), compared to Mavala (56.50 per cent) and Adilabad Urban (61.30 per cent) in the Assembly constituency.
In the Boath Assembly segment, mapping levels were higher in tribal mandals, including Bheempur (87.50 per cent), Tamsi (86.02 per cent), Talamadugu (89.16 per cent), Gudihathnoor (91.23 per cent), Sirikonda (91.89 per cent), Bazarhathnoor (84.05 per cent) and Boath (91.26 per cent).
Officials said anomalies were more prevalent in urban areas. In Adilabad Urban mandal, 51.10 per cent anomalies were recorded, with 32,566 entries flagged out of 63,730 mapped electors. In another segment, 47 per cent anomalies were identified, involving 10,496 entries out of 22,208 mapped electors.
In Gudihathnoor mandal, 40.66 per cent anomalies were recorded among 23,422 mapped electors, attributed to migrant population patterns.
Officials said the Adilabad Assembly constituency has 2,50,393 electors, of whom 1,67,364 had been mapped by June 24. In Boath constituency, 1,89,700 of 2,16,391 electors had been mapped.
District collector Rajarshi Shah said higher coverage in tribal areas was due to fewer discrepancies, while urban areas such as Mavala and Adilabad Urban recorded lower mapping due to more issues.
He said the administration would focus on unmapped electors and anomaly correction during the SIR exercise, adding that enumeration would be easier for entries already mapped by Booth Level Officers.
