‘Don’t overthink it’: Suns mids search for answers
Touk Miller admits Gold Coast’s vaunted midfield have done some digging ahead of a clash with Hawthorn that will reveal plenty about their AFL progress.
The Suns (4-2), who sit fourth, will face the third-placed Hawks (5-1) in Launceston on Saturday.
Damien Hardwick’s side has been bolstered by the arrival of premiership midfielder Christian Petracca, who has shown All-Australian form.
But, with fellow star Matt Rowell and captain Noah Anderson both missing at stages this season, their midfield has regularly lost the clearance battle.
That was the case in a tight win against Essendon last year, the Bombers prevailing at stoppages to defy their status as the league’s lowest-ranked clearance team.
