Hyderabad:Afzalgunj firing accused interstate robbers Aman Kumar and Alok Kumar, who opened fire at Roshan Travels, will be brought from Bidar to Hyderabad on a PT warrant after completion of Ganpati Navratri, a police officer disclosed on Monday.
The interstate offenders Aman and Alok, involved in a series of robberies in five states, were recently arrested by Bidar police.
During interrogation, the accused confessed they carried out robberies on the orders of gang leaders Santosh Jha and Vikas Jha, also known as Bhaiya, notorious interstate gangsters from Bihar, Karnataka police sources said.
Santosh Jha and Vikas Jha formed a gang with local youth and created a criminal empire. After Santosh Jha was killed in an encounter in Bihar in 2018, his associate Vikas Jha alias Kalia led the gang, which became involved in over 80 grave offences, police said.
Vikas, serving a life sentence for shooting dead two engineers, is presently lodged in Tihar jail, an officer from Karnataka Anti‑Dacoity Cell disclosed.
Further interrogation revealed Aman and Alok robbed ₹93 lakh from a cash‑filling vehicle at ATM centres in Bidar on January 16 last year. They then reached Hyderabad and boarded a bus to Raichur at Roshan Travels in Afzalgunj.
The duo got agitated when Bidar police arrived and, while trying to escape, opened fire on Md Jahangir, manager of Roshan Travels.
“A stern action will be taken against the accused. Such incidents will not be tolerated by Hyderabad police,” a senior officer said.
