Hyderabad: The AIMIM on Monday announced major organisational appointments to strengthen its leadership, naming joint secretary Syed Abdul Hussain Anwar as general secretary following the passing of former MLA Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri, who held the post.
Party president Asaduddin Owaisi’s long‑time personal assistant Syed Mushtaq Ahmed has been elevated as joint secretary.
Mohsin Balala, younger brother of Malakpet MLA Abdullah Balala, will serve as treasurer.
Abutalha Amjad, former Haj committee member, has been assigned to assist Samad Bin Abdad, in‑charge of the AIMIM Shoba‑e‑Tanzeem (organisational wing).
These changes follow the August 30 appointment of Bahadurpura MLA Mohammed Mubeen as in‑charge of the Rajendranagar Assembly constituency, after the expulsion of MLC Mirza Rahmat Baig.
At an event at Darussalam, Owaisi said the ministry of minority affairs had been weakened since the Modi government came to power, citing reductions and discontinuation of scholarship and educational support programmes for minority students.
He referred to government data showing significant changes in allocations and expenditure under scholarship schemes, which he said had affected educational assistance.
Owaisi also appealed to voters who received notices under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) to respond within the prescribed process and submit required documents.
He urged those whose names were excluded or marked as ‘shifted’ or ‘dead’ in the electoral roll to take corrective steps through the Election Commission process.
He advised eligible citizens to use the Commission’s voter services portal for SIR submissions and Form 6 for new voter registration.
