An Air India flight from Delhi to Bengaluru suffered a tail-strike incident while landing at Bengaluru airport.
Flight AI2651, carrying passengers from Delhi, encountered wake turbulence caused by another aircraft flying ahead during landing, affecting the aircraft’s stability and resulting in the tail hitting the runway.
Air India said the landing was completed safely and all passengers and crew members deboarded normally without any injuries.
The aircraft has been grounded for inspection following the incident.
Due to the development, the return flight AI2652 from Bengaluru to Delhi has been cancelled. The airline said alternate arrangements are being made for affected passengers.
Air India’s ground team at Bengaluru airport is assisting passengers with necessary support.
Aviation experts say wake turbulence can suddenly impact the stability of an aircraft following another plane, increasing the risk of such incidents.
