Akhil Akkineni has revealed that he went three years without a theatrical release because of an accident that cost him nearly a year and a half. In a recent interview, he explained that the long gap since Agent was caused by circumstances beyond his control.

“Three months after my previous movie, I slipped on a wet bathroom floor and fell onto a piece of glass. I had two surgeries and 48 stitches, so it took me 16 months to recover,” said the actor, who hails from the Akkineni family. He acknowledged that a three-year hiatus is a long gap in an actor’s filmography.

Akhil surgery

Akhil, known for Most Eligible Bachelor and Hello!, revealed that the glass severed a vein and a nerve, injuring the ring and middle fingers of his left hand. He explained that the procedures involved microsurgery and that the reconstruction process took a long time. He also shared that he was unable to lift weights for seven to eight months during his recovery.

More films from now

Determined to make up for the long break, Akhil said he plans to work at a faster pace. He has already listened to several scripts, with a couple of projects currently in the pipeline.

Lenin’s trailer draws star endorsements

Akhil is now awaiting the release of Lenin on July 10. The film’s trailer, released recently, has received praise from several celebrities, including Mahesh Babu, Ram Charan, and Nani. According to Akhil, Lenin represents the purest form of love. “It blends action and romance. I am not inclined exclusively towards either genre. I need drama and other elements in a balanced measure,” he said.

The film stars Bhagyashri Borse as the female lead. Set in Chittoor in the late 1980s, the story unfolds against the backdrop of a jathara called Bharata Metta.
