While Akon and Ne-Yo are currently on their joint ‘Nights Like This’ world tour, concerts goers in London were left baffled when the performance took a rather strange turn
Two of the biggest names within R&B music, Akon and Ne-Yo are currently on a joint tour across the world. But fans were left shocked when when the music stars arrived for their O2 Arena performance.
Akon and Ne-Yo are currently in the middle of their ‘Nights Like This’ world tour, with tickets sold out. For the UK, the R&B duo are heading to London, Manchester, Birmingham, and more. But after the first London show took place on May 8, some fans were baffled when things took a strange turn during Akon’s performance.
The star, whose real name is Aliaune Thiam and is known for hit songs like ‘Smack That’ and ‘Locked-Up’, shocked concert-goers when footage of him soaking the crowd in water started circulating on TikTok. Now people shared their experiences on social media.
“My £140 throwing water at me then assaulting me with a bottle,” Danielle joked in her video, which showed Akon on stage with a water bottle he used to soak fans with water. He then threw it into the crowd, hitting Danielle’s camera.
Meanwhile, another concert goer named Kerry attended the concert in Dublin, where she showed the moment she was ‘squished’ by the singer as he staged dove inside an inflatable human hamster ball.
“Nearly had to put ‘death by Akon’ on my tombstone,” she comically wrote on the overlay text on the video, which showed the singer in the large zorb as he was struggling to stay upright when the crowd moved him around the audience.
But he then ended up right on top of Kerry, before he continued to move his way over to a different part of the crowd.
Despite her initial comment, Kerry went on to claim it was a ’10/10 concert experience’ in the caption of her post.
People soon took to the comment section of the video to share their thoughts. While many wanted to see that Danielle was okay after being hit by the water bottle, social media users found Kerry’s video of the concert hilarious.
“I love how EVERYONE is having a bad time,” one person commented. To this, someone else said: “He looks scared lol.”
“I’M WHEEZING thank you for this POV,” a third person wrote. Another user commented: “Imagine the crowd just never returned him to the stage.”
Meanwhile, someone else said: “Might be an unpopular opinion but if people put the phones down and actually used both hands, this would’ve gone better. Not saying it would’ve been flawless, but it wouldn’t have been quite this bad.”
The two R&B stars will perform back-to-back hits, including “So Sick” and “Smack That,” with London dates at The O2 running from May 8-14, 2026.
Akon and the O2 Arena have been approached for comment.
