AUBURN — Bryce Deas is out for the rest of the year, undergoing a procedure that will sideline the Auburn football linebacker for the program’s three remaining games, head Alex Golesh announced Saturday, Nov. 7, following a win against Arkansas.

Deas appeared on the Friday SEC availability report for Auburn‘s eventual 26-23 win against Arkansas, having not appeared throughout the week or at any prior time this season.

“Bryce had an injury, it really happened Wednesday at practice,” Golesh said. “We thought we could club it up and go. He got a second, third opinion Thursday night in Birmingham and ended up having surgery, so he’s going to be done for the year.

In eight games, Deas had logged 39 total tackles and two pass deflections. He also saw his usage increase following Xavier Atkins’ dismissal, playing 212 of his 368 snaps in his last three games, according to Pro Football Focus.

“You saw him on the sideline. He had surgery yesterday and refused to stay home, against doctor’s orders, so he was on the sideline,” Golesh said. “I’m sure he doesn’t feel awesome, but that’s who Bryce Deas is. He’s a special human being.”
