Popular TV presenter Alison Hammond has responded to claims she ‘cheated’ her weight loss transformation after losing 11 stone over five years
Alison Hammond has set the record straight surrounding her dramatic 11-stone weight loss — saying she is “bored” of the constant speculation about it.
The Great British Bake Off presenter slimmed down over five years and it led to claims that she “cheated” by using weight loss drugs. However, she said the secret was simply eating healthily and weight training. The TV star, 51, said: “People are constantly talking about it, which I find really boring. I’m a big, beautiful, curvy girl. I’ve always been that way and I looked amazing when I was bigger as well.”
Alison made the comments in an interview with the Mail on Sunday where she added: “The only reason I decided to reduce my weight was because I was pre-diabetic and my mum was concerned. People’s bodies shouldn’t be up for discussion.”
Her clarification came weeks after she made a surprise comment about Ozempic — a prescription injection approved to treat type 2 diabetes that has a weight loss side effect.
Talking about it during an interview with The Times, she said: “There’s always room for cake, even with Ozempic.”
Alison meanwhile ended up shedding five stone after being diagnosed with pre-diabetes. She has been open about being at her heaviest at 28 stone and temporarily having a gastric band fitted.
However, the proud Brummie said the weight loss that followed was achieved through her own hard work, and she previously explained how she has three personal trainers who put her through her paces with Pilates, boxing, circuit training and weights as part of her weekly routine.
She has always insisted that she stayed away from weight loss medication and that the thought of taking drugs was “frightening” to her after hearing horror stories.
Alison also said she was still a size 20 and was not at her ideal weight — but the important thing was that her diabetes was now in the optimum range.
The latest series of The Great British Bake Off is now out and speaking to the Mail on Sunday, Alison revealed her one complaint about her new colleague Nigella Lawson.
She said: “She calls me ‘my bride’. I’m like, You know I am in a relationship, sweetheart?’ Nigella’s got the full package: natural beauty, good with words, clever, well-read. But I still don’t want to marry her. If I have a TV husband, it’s Noel (Fielding).”
She also said that the favourite celebs she has ever interviewed were Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling. The main reason was because although she hadn’t watched the movie they were promoting, the A-listers still had “such a lovely time” during the discussion.
