Alison Hammond has previously been open about her health issues, and has now spoken out again following a hospital visit after being rushed off air on This Morning
Alison Hammond’s fans are concerned for her health after the star was rushed off air on This Morning whilst clutching at her chest. Alison later posted to Instagram from a hospital bed, explaining that her heart was being checked by doctors and she hoped it was just a panic attack.
The presenter, 51, has been open about her health issues in the past, frequently letting fans in on what she was doing to stay healthy. In 2020, she was diagnosed with pre-diabetes, and explained how this, combined with her mother’s death from cancer the same year, had pushed her to take better care of herself.

Speaking to Women’s Health, she added: “My mum had Type 2 diabetes and she was worried for me, so when I then found out that I was pre-diabetic, that was frightening. I thought, ‘I have to be an adult about this’. The sweets had to stop, and the fatty foods.”
She added to Radio Times that she had been working with personal trainer. When asked about her decision to get fit, she joked that she was “not getting any younger” and realised: “At some point, you’ve got to look after yourself.”
Pre-diabetes is a health condition where your blood sugar levels are higher than normal but not high enough to warrant a Type 2 diabetes diagnosis. Those who have it are at a higher risk of developing diabetes than others, but with lifestyle changes, many can reverse their pre-diabetes.
Alison’s weight training and low-impact movement have also helped her manage her osteoporosis, a condition that weakens bones, making them more fragile and prone to breaks. She uses her exercise to protect her joint and bone health.
In an interview with The TImes, Alison explained: “If I’m not filming, the first thing I do — usually several hours before Aidan wakes up — is go to the gym, where I’ll do some heavy lifting.
“I’ve been doing weights for ten years now and I can deadlift 65kg. It’s good for my mental health and to prevent osteoporosis. You’ve got to keep on top of things.”
The star has also been open about her weight. In 2007, she had a gastic band fitted to help control her weight after reaching 28 stone. But, her body rejected the device, leaving her feeling constantly sick, and she had it surgically removed less than three years later. She has instead lost between 11 and 13.5 stone through a moderated diet, her personal trainer and exercises like boxing and Pilates.
She has not used weight loss injections, but has said that she doesn’t think it should be as taboo to use as it currently is. She expalined: “For me, as soon as I hear any scare story, I get frightened. So I haven’t wanted to use them.
“What does it matter how people lose weight? Would you rather me die from being obese? If you want the jabs, if you want to go do gastric surgery, do it. Ultimately, we should want people to live longer.”
Recently, Alison’s health became a subject of concern amongst fans, as she was seen clutching at her chest as she was rushed off of This Morning. Taking to Instagram from a hospital bed afterwards, Alison said: “Hello, my lovelies, I know you’re all worried about me. Honestly, I am fine. I’m getting my old ticker checked out. I had a bit of a palpitation and now I’m getting it all checked out.
“I’m hoping it was a little panic attack. I love you all, I’m so sorry I left you, I would never normally leave a TV show. The doctors are checking me out and hopefully everything is fine. Everything is fine. I’m rocking it. Look how good I look – still got my make-up on from this morning. Lush.”
