Looks like Allu Arjun and director Atlee’s Raaka has changed course. The makers have reportedly dropped their plans to shoot in Dubai amid security concerns and the ongoing instability in the Middle East. The team has now shifted the upcoming schedule to Hyderabad, the Pushpa actor’s hometown.

Set for a Hyderabad Schedule

According to a report by Telugu Cinema, a crucial action sequence will now be filmed at Ramoji Film City shortly. This will mark the production’s first major schedule in Hyderabad. Since the film went on floors, portions have reportedly been shot at a studio in Mumbai.

Mounting a film on the scale of Raaka is no small undertaking. Sets, crew, equipment and shooting dates all need to fall into place, making a change in location a significant logistical exercise.

Atlee, meanwhile, has his sights set on a much bigger stage. The filmmaker has reportedly expressed his ambition to take Raaka to the Oscars. He has even said that if he wins, he will deliver his acceptance speech in Tamil.

Big Scale, Bigger Ambition

Raaka is reportedly being mounted as a sci-fi epic on a grand scale, with Allu Arjun said to be playing three roles. Deepika Padukone leads the cast, with her maternity leave reportedly factored into the production schedule from the outset. Sun Pictures is said to be investing heavily in the film’s visual effects, which are being handled by Hollywood studios. Young Tamil composer Sai Abhyankkar is composing the music.

The film has also reportedly entered the Guinness World Records for capturing 37 performers simultaneously through real-time motion capture. The setup involved 92 cameras and performers ranging in age from four to 70. Atlee has described the project as a personal dream that he has nurtured for nearly 18 years. The makers are reportedly eyeing a December 2027 release.

Meanwhile, Allu Arjun’s next project with Lokesh Kanagaraj is also moving ahead. Tentatively titled AA23, the film had recently been the subject of speculation about being shelved. Lokesh reportedly dismissed those rumours last month, stating that the project was progressing as planned. Anirudh Ravichander is set to compose the music.
