Fans of Allu Arjun will have to wait longer than expected to see him on the big screen in Raaka, as the film’s release has reportedly been pushed to early 2028.
The rise of massive, multi-lingual pan-India projects has changed the timeline for superstars’ films. For Allu Arjun, Raaka represents a massive leap in technical scale compared to his last blockbuster appearance in Pushpa 2: The Rule back in 2024, and the escalation has resulted in several delays.
Directed by Atlee and produced by Sun Pictures, the ambitious sci-fi time-travel saga recently set a Guinness World Record for the ‘Most People Motion-Captured in Real-Time.’ This high-end visual framework means shooting is moving very slowly. Reports indicate that production has not yet crossed the half-way mark.
Due to the expanding narrative scope and extensive footage to be captured on elaborate sets, the makers have reportedly decided to split Raaka into two separate feature films.
While the original goal was a late 2027 arrival, a January 26, 2028 theatrical release now seems a more realistic expectation, given the sheer volume of VFX work and the planned year-long post-production phase.
