‘Almost Dying Wasn’t On My Bingo Card,’ Simone Biles Opens Up About Frightening Medical Emergency

Olympic Gymnastics legend, Simone Biles, has left fans concerned after revealing she recently experienced a serious medical emergency. In fact, she called it one of the scariest moments of her life. The popular athlete explained that the situation was so grave that she “almost died” a few days ago. In turn, Simone is presently focused on her health and recovering at home.

Simone Biles revealed she “almost died” this week

Simone Biles recently shared a personal update on Instagram. The 29-year-old gymnast shared two stories on her profile on June 6, 2026. The photo in the story showed multiple hospital wristbands on her arm. In turn, Simone revealed that she was hospitalized after a frightening health scare. Although she prefers privacy and keeps such things to herself, the life-threatening experience was something she felt like sharing. Simone did not reveal the exact nature of her illness, but her rare personal update made fans worried. In her words:

“I’m not one to normally share things like this because I value privacy in today’s age. But almost dying wasn’t on my bingo card earlier this week.”

The Olympic champion explained that it was one of the most terrifying moments she had ever experienced. According to Simone, things became even more difficult because her husband, Jonathan Owens, was away from home. Still, the gymnast assured fans she has spent her past week resting in bed. At the same time, Simone expressed her gratitude to the friends and family members who checked on her during the difficult period. She even assured her fans that she would explain exactly what happened sometime. 

According to social media posts, despite her husband’s absence, Simone has been surrounded by the support of her loved ones as she recovers. Later, the gymnast even shared pictures of the flower bouquets sent by her loved ones, along with a photo of herself resting in bed with her two dogs nearby. In another update, Simone shared a screenshot of her resting heart rate with the caption, “I’ll be here,” reassuring fans that she is taking things slowly. 

Where was Jonathan Owens during his wife, Simone Biles’ health scare?

When Simone was dealing with the frightening medical emergency, her husband and NFL player, Jonathan Owens, was in Indianapolis to complete his football commitments. According to Simone’s post, he was attending practices with the Indianapolis Colts after he signed a one-year contract with the team earlier this year. Needless to say, the distance between the couple reportedly made the situation even more stressful for her. 

Despite their busy careers, Jonathan and Simone have often spoken about supporting each other’s demanding sports careers. For those unaware, they first met on the dating app Raya in 2010 and married in 2023. But despite their busy schedules, they never fail to publicly celebrate each other’s achievements.
