Britain’s Got Talent judge and The Celebrity Inner Circle host Amanda Holden has made several candid admissions about her marriage to husband Chris Hughes over the years
The Celebrity Inner Circle host Amanda Holden returns to TV tonight with a new episode of the popular quiz show. Packed with strategy, high stakes and plenty of surprises, the 55-year-old welcomes five contestants, who each choose a celebrity partner and are assigned a secret stash of cash worth anything from zero to a whopping £6,000, with various amounts in between.
The first batch of celebrities taking on the challenge in the new series includes Chris Hughes, Kym Marsh, Thanyia Moore, Mike Bushell and Rita Simons.
One contestant has an unexpected link to Amanda. Love Island star Chris Hughes shares the exact same name as her husband, who works as a music manager. Amanda and her husband have been married since 2008 and share two daughters, Lexi and Hollie.
While fronting the Heart Radio Breakfast Show, Amanda regularly chats candidly about her home life and hasn’t been shy about sharing a few saucy details over the years.
While talking with co-host Jamie Theakston about a survey on relationship happiness, Amanda picked up on one claim that couples should kiss at least 10 times a week to stay content.
She wasn’t convinced. “I think that’s quite low in seven days,” she said, adding that her husband, who she joked “nags” her about it, would argue that’s an easy daily total.
Jamie was stunned, asking: “You kiss your husband 10 times a day?”
“I would say so,” Amanda replied, before laughing that even a “Glaswegian one” would count and insisting they still enjoy “a good old snog”.
She added that kissing is, in her view, “the easiest thing” to keep going in a marriage.
Earlier this month, Amanda also told fans about a holiday mishap that left her in an embarrassing predicament. She said she managed to wedge herself between pieces of furniture while naked as she tried to retrieve a dropped bottle of moisturiser.
She later posted a clip of the moment on Instagram, with her body blurred.
And on a recent episode of her radio show, she joked that her husband might “leave” her as he’s currently upgrading his smile with Invisalign.
Amanda has previously credited humour as one of the main reasons their relationship has stayed strong. Speaking to Hello! Magazine in 2019, she said Chris keeps things light and that they can “make jokes out of any situation”, even during tough times.
She added that while he’s “rubbish at romance”, he’s dependable in the ways that matter, from keeping her car clean to making sure she switches off and relaxes.
The Celebrity Inner Circle airs tonight at 6.40pm on BBC One
