Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden left her co-star Jamie Theakston lost for words as she made the racy admission live on Heart Radio Breakfast

Amanda Holden made a rather personal admission live on her radio show on Tuesday, revealing an unexpected nickname she has at home. The 55-year-old left her co-star Jamie Theakston stunned after explaining why her husband, Chris Hughes, likens her to the fictional character Elmo.

During an on-air discussion, Amanda said she wouldn’t feel ashamed about being naked if she were “on a different planet”.

“I wouldn’t feel [ashamed] because I go around naked all day, don’t I?,” she told Jamie. “Chris says I’m like Elmo, he says, ‘You’re naked all day and then you put your pyjamas on to go to bed’ and that’s true I am like Elmo.”

As she tried to move the conversation on, Jamie insisted it was normal to wear pyjamas to bed, prompting Amanda to elaborate: “Yes, but Elmo is naked all day like me and then puts his pyjamas on to go bed.”

She then added: “Chris is like, ‘When I want you to be naked, you put your pyjamas on’,” leaving her co-star lost for words before she moved on.

Amanda and Chris have been married since 2008 and share two daughters, Lexi and Hollie.

The presenter is no stranger to sharing insights into her family life, including a previous admission about her “controversial” approach to marriage.

“Everyone gets wrapped up with their children and their schedules and all the drama around your children when they’re growing up,” she told Closer Magazine.

“But you have to remember that you and your husband were together first.”

The Britain’s Got Talent judge added: “You have to invest in that relationship in order that you continue to have a relationship for your children’s sake as well as your own.

“So, that is incredibly important. It is very controversial, but it’s also supported by research.”

Amanda has also previously said that the couple’s busy, independent lives help their relationship.

“Our lives have been very separate for a long time because we’re both very busy,” she told Heart listeners.

“Obviously, we’re very happily married, but we do lots of things separately. I love my Peloton and running, he goes and plays squash. He’s got a massive career as well. We’re always separate, you know.”

Since then, she revealed the pair have taken up badminton together, though admitted finding the time has been a challenge.

More recently, they have turned their attention to padel with their daughter Hollie.

Giving an update on the show, she said: “Badminton works because it’s just the two of us, as Chris keeps saying, ‘We don’t know two people we can play with’ in Cobham where we live.”

Amanda then jokingly put out an invitation inviting anybody interested in the area to be their opponents.

“Chris was really good straight off the back because he’s a really good tennis player and he plays squash once a week, so padel to him was like [easy]. It’s so much fun,” she added.
